So you’ve been eyeing the Blissful Weekend Retreat in North Carolina, huh? Or maybe you stumbled upon it while searching for a yoga or wellness retreat and you’re wondering if it’s right for you.
In this post, I’ll walk you through what you can expect from the experience. While every guest has their own unique journey and transformation, this will give you a clear glimpse into what a Blissful Weekend Retreat feels like, and why so many people leave changed.
1. A New Perspective on Yoga
This is, by far, the biggest takeaway for about 99% of people who attend my retreats, including yoga teachers.
On the first day, after everyone arrives and settles in, I like to sit down with the group for a casual check-in. I ask about their yoga experience, any injuries, and what they’re hoping to receive from the weekend. Because these retreats are intentionally small (usually 2–3 people), this conversation allows me to truly customize the experience.
Many guests tell me they practice yoga on YouTube or attend power yoga classes at the gym. At one retreat, when I asked about their experience with restorative yoga, the two participants looked at each other completely confused, like I was interrogating a married couple in a counseling session. They had never even heard of it.
So, of course, I made sure restorative yoga became a HUGE part of that weekend.
By the end of the retreat, they had discovered not only the magic of restorative yoga, but also essential elements of a well-rounded yoga practice: mindful breathing, ujjayi breath, Yoga Nidra, alignment awareness, and deep rest.
What they left with was a new understanding of what yoga actually feels like, and what it can do for your overall wellbeing.
Some reflections guests have shared:
- “OMG! Doing Yoga Nidra every day helps me sleep so much better.”
- “I finally have a blueprint for what a life with less chaos looks like.”
2. Trying Things You Didn’t Know You Needed
Throughout the retreat, I check in with participants and often ask:
“Are you getting what you needed?”
The response is almost always the same:
“I didn’t know what I needed. I just knew I needed something.”
Practices like restorative yoga, Yoga Nidra, and breathwork often come as a surprise.
When experienced consistently over a weekend retreat, they can be deeply transformative. These are the things you didn’t know you needed, until you experience them.
3. Mindful, Home-Cooked Meals
Sitting down at a table to enjoy a home-cooked meal in community is one of the most underrated practices of all.
You might think, “I can do that at home.” And yes. You can. But the truth is that most of us don’t.
You see, we live in a culture that’s always on the go. We rush through meals, eat alone, or squeeze a bite between obligations (having lived in New York City myself, I know a thing or two about eating on the go). Families eat at different times. And for those who live alone, shared meals can be rare.
At the retreat, eating together becomes a mindful practice, just like meditation or yoga. It’s slow, nourishing, and deeply grounding. For many guests, this simple ritual becomes one of the most memorable parts of the weekend.
4. A Private or Semi-Private Sound Bath Experience
Sound healing has grown in popularity, and many people have experienced it in large group settings. But a private or semi-private sound bath is something entirely different.
In a small group, the vibrations are felt more intimately, through the body, the breath, and the nervous system. The experience can be deeply relaxing, emotional, and transformative. Many guests describe sensations of tingling, floating, or profound stillness they’ve never felt before.

5. A Forest Bathing Journey
Forest bathing is often one of the biggest surprises of the retreat.
Spending time in nature sounds simple, yet it’s something many of us rarely do mindfully. During the Blissful Weekend Retreat, we visit a nearby trail for a guided forest bathing walk.
The first half is done in silence, allowing the senses to fully awaken. Later, we regroup and share what we noticed, what we saw, heard, felt, smelled, and even tasted. It becomes a practice of presence and connection.
After the retreat, guests often send me photos from their own nature walks, inspired to continue this practice at home.

6. Dinner Outings & Simple Joy
Our dinner outings aren’t just about going out to eat. They’re about shared joy.
We explore nearby small towns, enjoy local cuisine, and soak in the charm of Western North Carolina. It’s lighthearted, grounding, and fun. These moments of laughter and connection are just as healing as the yoga itself.
7. A Slower Pace of Living
Our society lives on fast-forward. A yoga retreat is a gentle reminder of how beautiful it is to slow down.
While there is a schedule, it’s intentionally spacious, with plenty of downtime and freedom to rest, reflect, or simply be. Nothing feels rushed or overwhelming.
This is where the true magic of retreat happens:
stepping away from routine, softening expectations, and allowing yourself to be supported by the land, the practices, and the shared group energy.
8. Cozy, Home-Like Vibes
The Blissful Weekend Retreat is held in a small, cozy cabin in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.
It’s not a hotel, resort, or traditional retreat center. It’s a private home where we practice yoga, enjoy sound baths, cook meals, and spend time together. The space feels warm, safe, and familiar, like being at home.
For many guests, especially those coming from stressful or unsupportive environments, this homey atmosphere feels deeply healing. It just feels right.

Is the Blissful Weekend Retreat Right for You?
The Blissful Weekend Retreat isn’t about fixing yourself or becoming someone new. It’s about remembering what it feels like to move slowly, breathe deeply, and feel supported, by your body, by nature, and by a small, intentional community.
