Yoga Nidra [Grounding & Safety] Day 2 – Feeling Supported By The Earth

One of the most healing gifts of Yoga Nidra is the reminder that we don’t have to hold everything on our own. Beneath us, always, is the steady presence of the earth — offering support, grounding, and quiet reassurance.

In this second practice of the June Yoga Nidra series, Feeling Supported by the Earth, you’ll be guided to soften into that support. Through gentle awareness and visualization, you’ll allow your body to release its weight down into the ground, inviting a sense of ease and belonging.

Preparing for Your Practice

Before beginning, set yourself up in a comfortable Savasana:

  • Lie flat on your back or prop yourself with pillows and bolsters for ease.
  • Place a pillow under your knees to soften your lower back.
  • Add a blanket or eye pillow to create warmth and comfort.
  • Make sure you’re in a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed.

As you settle in, let your body feel the surface beneath you. Notice how the ground rises up to hold you, so you don’t need to hold yourself.

What You’ll Experience

This Yoga Nidra practice begins with body awareness and breath, gently unwinding tension. From there, you’ll be guided into an exploration of the earth’s support — sensing its stability beneath you, and letting that awareness seep into every layer of your being.

This practice is especially nourishing if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, unsupported, or restless. By surrendering into the ground, you’ll discover a quiet strength and reassurance that you can carry with you into daily life.

Through this journey, you’ll:

  • Release the weight of effort and struggle
  • Connect with the earth as a source of grounding and support
  • Experience rest as a practice of trust and belonging

Coming Out Slowly

At the end of the practice, give yourself time to return gently. Deepen your breath, wiggle fingers and toes, and roll to one side before coming up to sit. Notice if the sense of being supported stays with you as you rise.
